About

On the 28 September, Gillian, who works in client services for advertising, and Mikey, a graphic designer, were married in the wonderfully quirky Edinburgh

"I am proud to express I was pretty decisive if this came to every aspect of wedding ceremony planning. In the finish, I only visited 3 shops, but man, I tried on a lot of frocks!"

"I'm so glad I went, as I saw 'Tasha' and fell in love. Weirdly, it was a dress I’d liked on Pinterest immediately after getting engaged. The style felt classic 'me' – I love a sleeve, and understated, elegant yet glamorous styles. It helped me feel instantly amazing yet true to myself inside in a way no others quite had."

The bridesmaids looked wonderful in long blush pink bridesmaid dresses, that they wore with gold sandals. They also wore hair accessories and rose gold geometric necklaces from the Etsy shop.

"Jamie wore a suit, and Sonny (whose mum Katie is a stylist) rocked a top, a set of tartan trousers, and silver boots."

"Mikey and I aren't from Edinburgh originally, but we met while cooperating here, and it's the town we both call home. We knew we wanted a central Edinburgh venue where we're able to throw a large, relaxed, party with all of our family and friends, and Summerhall ticked all of the boxes."

"We met while cooperating at an ad agency. We were pals for a long time before something changed and we became a couple. We'd been together 8 years through the time we've got engaged."

"Mikey decked out as an elf on Christmas Day, and surprised me having a diamond ring like a final gift – an unforgettable scene! We had discussed marriage for a while and agreed we didn't desire a long engagement since we'd been together such a long time, so 9 months following the proposal I was saying 'I do'." Here

One of Mikey's close friends has set up their gin distillery, and so for that wedding day, the pair served this gin with tonic and rosemary garnishes.

"Mikey and I love Italian food and around the day we'd individual ravioli starters and porchetta (roast rolled pork loin full of herbs) for the main course, that have been served on huge platters and carved and shared on the table. We wanted it to seem like one big family roast dinner but a little posher!"

Dessert was delicious churros, served with Scottish raspberries and salted chocolate and rum sauce, and later in the evening, there have been wood-fired pizzas.

Along with using the ceremony, another highlight of your day for Gillian was the speeches, along together with her chance to speak, too.

"The speeches were all so funny and touching. I wound up giving an address myself, as I've always found it a little weird for that bride to remain mute while everybody else says their bit."

"I very nearly changed my thoughts and backed out last second, as speaking in public is not my concept of fun, but in the end, I loved having the opportunity to thank (and lovingly go ahead and take piss from) my loved ones and friends. I'd encourage any bride considering it to do the same, it feels amazing."

With dinner and speeches concluded, it had been time for Gillian and Mikey to consider their first spin around the dancefloor like a married couple, and also the song they chose would be a surprising one for her guests!

“When Mikey and I were getting to know one another years ago, he'd have friends round to his flat at weekends for drinks, and we’d all wind up shuffling around the living room to increasingly obscure music within the wee small hours. This track was one that always wound up coming on. I suppose in a very silly way, it covers a time when both of us realized I was falling for one another. Plus it’s a cracking song!”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"It's easy for wedding ceremony planning to start to feel all-consuming, so Mikey and I attempted to stick to some plan of only doing wedding admin a few dedicated nights per week so we're able to still be normal, functioning people!"

"Everyone says find time for yourselves around the day away from all of the guests and I would completely agree, you certainly need a quiet moment to take everything in."
