Fashion buyer Alice wed account manager Gareth on 15 October 2021 at All Hallows' Parish Church in Kirkburton, Huddersfield, their local church. The newly-weds as well as their guests traveled to nearby Manor House Lindley for any Coach House reception with rustic, vintage, and nature-inspired influences, all from the historic atmosphere of the Manor. Think trees and birds, candles and oh-a lot of flowers.
"The church is spectacular with medieval ceilings and enormous stained-glass windows. With a long aisle, it made the 'walking on the aisle' part special by having an organist playing. I love a conventional church wedding. There is nothing that can compare with that aisle walk within an old church."
Alice and Gareth met over seven years back when they both worked as buyers at Tesco Head Office.
"We were around the same team and also the rest is history. We got engaged in Portmeirion in Wales with Snowdonia without anyone's knowledge. With Gareth being Welsh, it needed to be done in Wales. I always said I wanted the household dog, Peggy, beside me when we got engaged but rather, he brought along a huge photo of her – the moment I saw that I knew! We got engaged in August 2019 and booked our wedding for August 2020. Due to Covid this finally went ahead in October 2021."
Although the date for the wedding was changed twice and delayed by more than a year in the finish, the pair are so glad they waited to achieve the perfect autumn day.
"It was well worth the wait and ultimately, an autumn wedding was ideal for us. The venue was amazing moving it for all of us and we had hardly any stress, apart from having to keep telling our guests the brand new date. The biggest stress wasn't knowing whether or not this would proceed. We asked all of our guests to consider a lateral flow ahead from the wedding but overall, we managed an ordinary wedding with hardly any Covid impact. We were very lucky."
The bride chose her short-sleeved gown, hand-embroidered with daisies, at feel times. It's an E&W Couture design and was ideal for that vintage, floral styling from the day.
"I had among those wedding dress shopping experiences the thing is in the films. I managed to consider my entire wedding party to Chester and discover my dream dress. When I said 'Yes towards the dress', the bubbles were flowing and it would be a magical and emotional experience I won't forget!"
The bridesmaids were in blush pink bridesmaid dresses from FeelTimes with button-down backs with New Look shoes and faux flower hair slides produced by Fleur & Grey. They also wore personalized gold bar necklaces from Selfridges and carried personalized, gold sequin clutch bags from Monsoon.
"I love fashion and art and try to want a classic and rustic-style wedding. This goes with my fashion style and it is something I've always loved. Once the venue was booked, anything else fell into place using the overall vision. The unique dress and flower crown were in keeping using the rustic look and feel of the wedding. With my red hair, the autumn colors from the flowers leaving just worked perfectly."
Words of Wedded Wisdom
"Enjoy every minute of it! Whether it's the look, the build-up, the getting-ready, the speeches… it is going in a heartbeat and all of the memories can last a lifetime. I loved every second of it and spent your day wishing it wouldn't go so quick so just appreciate it. Don't sweat the little stuff. Once you are there and everyone is together, that's all that matters."
